Definition: Nutritional Surveillance
Continuing process of collecting data and generating information on nutritional status and its determinants, for policy development, program planning and management, and monitoring
Goal of ASEAN NSS
To provide timely and accurate nutrition information concerning the ASEAN region through enhanced cooperation among ASEAN Member States
Objectives of ASEAN NSS
- To monitor nutritional trends of population at the regional and country levels;
- To harmonize methodologies/data collection procedures for cross-country analysis;
- To facilitate cross-country analysis of food and nutrition and related indicators/information through accessibility to information through networking;
- To enhance individual country efforts on nutritional surveillance through regional cooperation;
- To provide recommendations for formulation of appropriate policies and effective programs
